    Jon is an associate structural engineer at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in structural engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and has more than seventeen years of experience working on aviation, industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities for government, military, and private-sector clients. Jon chairs the Editorial Board for STRUCTURE, the official magazine of the three major professional societies for structural engineers in the United States. In that capacity, he writes a bi-monthly “InFocus” column that often discusses the relationship between philosophy and engineering. Jon is also the founding chair of the Engineering Philosophy Committee of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and serves on the steering committee for the international Forum on Philosophy, Engineering & Technology (fPET).
